Réanne
I just finished your book Cape
Horn.
Having had the dream of sailing around the world
for a good many years, I can relate to your husband.
Why you did not kill him is beyond me, but I guess
a bad captain is better than no captain. Glad to
know that you two are still together after all you
went through. The book was GREAT. Cape
Horn was never on any list of places that I
wanted to visit with my boat. After reading your
book it's now on my list of places NOT to go with
my boat.
I really enjoyed your book, and am glad you published
it.

Dear Andy,
Thank you for your kudos. . . . I
didn't kill him because he's the best and most intuitive
captain I have ever known. He's grown up quite a bit
in the last 30 years (so have I!).
Réanne
Dear Réanne and Don,
I just finished reading
Cape Horn and wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed
the book. My wife and I are relatively new to sailing,
and we've attended your Inside Passage seminars at the
last two Seattle Boat Shows. We chatted briefly with
you at both, and bought your BC and Alaska cruising
guides last year. They were of immense value to us on
our Alaska cruise this past summer. We took our MacGregor
26X on much of your "dream cruise" route and
had a wonderful experience.
Regarding Cape Horn,
I found myself recognizing many insights into Sandy's
responses to my adventurous side. While we've never
attempted anything along the scale of challenging Cape
Horn, I've often led her on ventures well beyond her
comfort range. It's to her credit that she's still accompanying
me on adventures after 35 years of marriage. I'd like
to think I've mellowed a bit too, but I'm still itching
to expand our horizons. Thanks to you for writing your
story, and to Don for supporting the effort. We'll keep
attending the boat show and looking forward to enjoying
your seminars. Hopefully, we'll get back to Alaska sometime
soon, and maybe in a bit bigger boat. We'd love to be
able to visit with you on the water some day, and listen
to more of your stories.
Warmest regards,
Mike Cecka and Sandy, Chinook
