Duncanby Landing, Rivers Inlet

Contributed by Carl Cederberg, M/V C's Affairs

Duncanby Landing (51°24.38'N, 127°38.78'W) is a great haven to unwind after the northbound challenges of the Queen Charlotte Sound crossing. Craig Long of Powell River became the new owner of Duncanby over the winter of 2004-2005. New roofs on the buildings, decking on the docks, and power and water lines on the docks; a renovated liquor store, grocery store, restaurant and kitchen; and a new generator have brought this facility right up-to-date. The 800 feet of dock face is now serviced with twelve 30-Amp power outlets and six water outlets.

Hours for Jessie's Bar and Restaurant, that operates from July 1 through September 1 each season, are 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. There are sixteen refurbished rooms for the fly-in or smaller boat travelers. Dean McLaren, dock manager, can be reached by satellite phone at 403.997.8516.
